The best way to describe it is Max Payne meets Tony Hawk. Total Overdose (PC) - Not the greatest shooter around, but fairly underrated in its own right.Bloodrayne 2 (PC) - This is the one with pole dance fighting. It also gave us the incredible drama of the B3 finals back in 1996. S treet Fighter Alpha 2 (Arcade) - Also known as "the good one" in the series, Alpha 2 shuns its awkward siblings with its extremely solid mechanics and well balanced cast.Even after more than a decades worth of competitive play, ST still enjoys a worldwide following and for one very good reason: it's the best. Super Street Fighter II Turbo (Arcade) - Arguably the greatest fighting game ever conceived, Super Turbo is the craft of 2D fighting defined.GameTap has always featured an incredible selection of fighting games (especially in the last month or so), and yet two very specific, very missing titles kept the service from feeling whole.

A CD-ROM version which utilizes crisp CD audio can be found in the ISO cellar on the forums. We'd like to consider today the apex of the Summer Throwdown promotion. This is the floppy version, which uses MIDI music. Overall, this is a terrific adaptation of the best version of the finest fighting game ever! If you've never played Street Fighter before, or have only played the other version on this site, play this now! You can't compare with its powers! The graphics and sounds are as close to the arcade as they can get, and the game plays smoothly as well! The eye-popping intro and all the endings are also intact. This DOS version of the game hardly disappoints. Instead of a measly two buttons from the other SFII on the site, this version utilizes all six original attack buttons, so everything that worked in the arcade works here as well! There's also a super combo for each character that, when triggered, annihilates your opponent!

Instead of 8 characters to choose from (Ryu, Ken, E Honda, Chun-Li, Blanka, Zangief, Guile, and Dhalsim), you now have 16! The four bosses are now selectable (Balrog, Vega, Sagat, and M Bison), plus four brand new characters add to the fun (T Hawk, Cammy, Fei Long, and Dee Jay)! Then there's the secret boss, Akuma, who kills Bison and faces you if you beat the game under the right conditions, and you can even play as him if you know the code!Īll the characters have new moves and animations added to their repertoires. The game is MUCH deeper and more complex than the other version, though. Once you beat Bison (or Akuma - more on that later), the game is won! If you've played the other SFII game on this site, then you know the basic drill: Pick a character, fight 8 opponents, then fight the final four bosses. The end result is not only the most well-known Street Fighter upgrade, but also one of the most polished and balanced fighting games out there. So they tinkered and toyed with it until it was made the way it was meant to be experienced. The original SFII was a runaway success, but Capcom just wasn't satisfied with it. That's basically the story of Super Street Fighter II Turbo. Everyone would praise you ten times more, even though some would criticize you for going too far, and you would be happy because you made your "perfect" tree. So you tinkered and toyed with it (against the forces of nature, needless to say) until it started to grow not only apples, but oranges, grapes, bananas, AND cherries. It grew nice, juicy apples all the time, but you just weren't satisfied with it.
